The year is 1958 - Mr. Elmer Fisher purchased a building located at 816 Fairground Avenue in Higginsville, MO. It started out as R&S Bargain Center. They handled “ A little bit of everything”  from oil to furniture. After 5 years, he decided to start selling furniture only and changed the business name to Fisher’s Furniture.  Elmer strived to sell comfortable, quality furniture for an affordable price. Fast-forward 55 years and Fisher's Furniture is now under its 4th  generation ownership - still conducting business according to those same values; to provide comfortable, quality furniture for an affordable price. 

 

In 2016 when Mr. Fishers great-grandson, Zach took ownership, the building was needing a facelift. Inside new floors were laid, walls were painted, and all new inventory ordered. Outside trees were removed, signs replaced, paved the parking lot, and the sidewalk was replaced to be wheelchair accessible to better serve all of our customers.

 

While speaking with customers, we had several requests for a gift shop in town to help serve our customers and community. To honor the request, we turned our front showroom into a gift shop that features home décor, local goods and unique gifts for every occasion. 

 

A half a century has passed since Fisher’s Furniture's doors have opened, but our values will always remain the same - to have comfortable, quality furniture, and gifts for an affordable price. At Fisher's Furniture, we treat our customers like family.  ​
